THIS IS GRANDAD JACKSON. HE AND HIS WIFE, BIRDIE CAME FROM THOSE HILLS IN TENNESSEE.
One of my earliest memories and there aren’t many. When all the families were together, I would hear my aunts laughing about great-granddad swearing up & down that he was not half Cherokee. Not that they should have been. In his life, it was considered taboo to be what was called a half-bred. I know the Anglo Saxons did not accept them. At least not with grace.
Gramps & grams were Elmer & Birdie Jackson. I do recall someone calling her Birdie & as a child I was absolutely scandalized with what was, I considered great disrespect. This may have been her Indian. I know she and her family did have a good amount of money. she did invest her own money and owned property. She owned rental houses when I was a pre-teen. I also know many of her (and others in that community) evil ways. Do not!! ever believe that satanic worship is not evil!! It is extremely evil!!!
when Michael and I researched the Jackson clan we found that I had a g.g.grandmother Pickle. this de-notes The Apache.
They had built a larger house from their original house, which was not a homesteader shack as some were called and they were. They built a bunkhouse for the boys to live or, rather sleep in. There were two bedrooms, a large living room & dining room, kitchen & bath IN THE MAIN HOUSE.
THAT HOME IS WHERE WE CELEBRATED ALL HOLIDAYS. IN THE PICTURES I REMEMBER WE PLAYING IN BOXES. MUST HAVE BEE CHRISTMAS.
